The Board of Christian Day School plans, sets, and administers policies in the school, assists the Principal in selecting personnel, and secures means and facilities for the school.

Rev. Bill Couch, Chair
After serving as the Lutheran campus pastor at the University of Tennessee for 33 years and on a variety of community organization boards, Pastor Couch just couldn’t stay away from either education or volunteer work in his retirement. He joined the Board of Christian Day School in 2006. Originally from Hannibal, Missouri, Pastor Couch has lived in a total of ten states. He is married to Ruth, and they have four grown children, all of whom attended FLS. |

Linwood C. Holloway Jr.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Lin Holloway has lived here all his life, and he and his three children all attended First Lutheran School. Lin works downtown at the Knoxville Hilton and says he joined the school board in 2009 hoping to give back just a little of what has been given to him at FLS.

John Schulz Jr.
Born in Houston, John Schulz Jr. has spent most of his life in Knoxville, graduating from First Lutheran School and eventually the University of Tennessee with a degree in Industrial Engineering. John is an industrial engineering supervisor at Denso Corporation. He joined the Board of Christian Day School in 2009 after serving two terms as congregational president at First Lutheran Church. Having spent nine years in a Christian day school, John knows firsthand the importance of a Christ-centered education and the role the school plays in outreach to the community. |

Christine Sprecher
With a master’s degree in mathematics and a decade of teaching behind her, Christine Sprecher joined the Board of Christian Day School in 2006 because she believes in FLS’s family atmosphere that strives for excellence in the education of the whole child. Christine is married to Jered, an artist and UT professor. They have two young sons, one a preschooler at FLS and the other a future student. |
